Grace
Hospice has quickly become the standard for providing expert nursing care
and counseling services to terminally ill patients and their families. It's
no wonder why Grace Hospice is called "The Family's Choice."
Nursing Services
Grace Hospice
nurses make regularly scheduled visits to the patient providing expert pain
management and symptom control techniques. Throughout the time the patient
is under the care of hospice, the nurse keeps the primary physician informed
of the patient's condition. Nurses provide the complete spectrum of skilled
nursing care. A nurse is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Home health
aides provide assistance with the personal care of the patient.
Continuous Care
Continuous
care nursing is available if there is a severe episode that requires additional
care to manage pain or acute medical symptoms. Our skilled nursing and home
health aide services are covered on a 24-hour
basis during periods of crisis.
Medical Social
Services
Social
workers provide assistance with practical and financial concerns as well as
emotional support, counseling and bereavement follow-up. They evaluate the
need for volunteers and other support services needed by the family.
Spiritual Care
Grace employs
a complete psychosocial team to provide spiritual support to patients and
families, often serving as a liaison between them and their religious community.
Chaplains and other spiritual team members often assist with memorial services
and funeral arrangements.
Bereavement
Grace Hospice
knows that the loss of someone close to you can be the most stressful event
you will ever face. We offer a Bereavement Group which meets every Thursday at
4:00pm
at the Grace Hospice offices, located at 6400 South Lewis, Suite 1000, in
Tulsa. Individual counseling is also available. To
help family members heal, our hospice bereavement counselors are available
for at least a year after the death.
Twice a year, usually in the May and November, we celebrate the lives of those who have recently passed on with a memorial service. Please call Grace Hospice at (918) 744-7223 for dates and time.
Grace Volunteers
Grace Hospice
volunteers provide practical, emotional, and spiritual support to our hospice
patients and their families. They can provide transportation to the doctor
or grocery store, household chores, errands, meals, social outings, visits,
phone calls, or a time for caregivers to have a break.
Our volunteers participate when they can, and what they do is based on their skills and interests. Volunteers do not offer any medical or nursing care, dispense medications or take the place of a health care professional. If you are interested in becoming a Grace volunteer, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at (918) 744-7223.
